Grange
Built for a well known Edinburgh family in the mid 1800s, this house was then converted into a hotel and then back into a residence. It has been altered and remodelled extensively. This project focussed on breathing life back into the building – creating a big open family kitchen space and opening up rooms to allow light and sun deep into the plan. Much of the work involved careful refurbishment.
The services were renewed; conservation of energy was central. The house has a sophisticated set of controls for all systems; it’s simple & seamless. The finishes were largely replaced; they are light and rich.
The end result is clean, light & open. The house exudes a sense of peacefulness, of connecting strongly with the lovely gardens. The lighting is atmospheric, the detailing is elegant. It transforms this house from a big pile into a very characterful & modern home. We love it and our clients do too. A privilege to have worked on such a lovely building.
