This upper flat is part of a grand, 3 storey, Georgian detached villa, which has a wonderful aspect over the City skyline and lots of natural light all round. The villa was split many years ago, to form separate first, ground and basement floor apartments. This one had been empty for several years and it was in need of some TLC.
The first floor has the original principal public rooms – the living room and dining / kitchen runs the full length of the building, with 3 full height windows facing west, with views.
The project involved the removal of the usual layers and additions, which over the years had masked the simple and elegant layout of the property. The original detail exists – it has been restored & enhanced, with rich colours, interesting lighting and materials.
It’s sublime – A very modest entrance and a narrow stair opens out into a lovely landing, off which is a series of beautifully proportioned & spacious rooms.
The architecture was straightforward, the behind the scenes works a bit less so.
