Craigleith

When we suggested we should demolish and reconstruct their beloved 1930’s house, it’s fair to say, we tested Julie and Hasan’s mettle, and that of their neighbours.

From sound research, a proposal was put forward to develop a new house, of up-to-date construction and energy efficiency, shedding the constraints of the existing property in order to make way for a light, well proportioned, contemporary family home.

From the front the house is relatively unassuming, melding into its suburban context with little ado, but there are hints that something is different about this house. Once through the larch clad front door, one’s eye is lead through to the sun filled kitchen and garden beyond. ┬áThis is where this house really shines. ┬áThe corner opening sliding doors allow the boundaries to dissolve and the garden floods in.

Julie and Hasan have been fantastic clients, trusting and enthusiastic. We hope they enjoy their new home as much as we did working on it.
