Our clients could see the potential in this house from the beginning. However, the beautiful and classic proportions from the front belied the acute need for refurbishment and rejuvenation. Through a series of sketches and discussions we arrived at a design that paid homage to the original house. The result is a series of extensions to accommodate modern service requirements, to introduce more light and to create a generosity of space that was lacking in the original arrangements. High quality materials – zinc, stone, oak and aluminium – were brought together to produce something interesting and elegant. This project was a model for positive team collaboration, helping to get the best result for our client. We worked closely with an extended design and construction team to draw everything together into a cohesive whole.
