Refurbishment & Extension of Victorian Villa
Completed 2003

The existing house is set in an elevated one acre garden with open views over the skyline to the north. The property was significantly remodelled to create family accommodation that opens up into the garden. Two existing ground floor offshoots were taken down and rebuilt.

The new offshoot forms an open plan family kitchen at the ground level and a guest bedroom with en-suite bathroom above. A conservatory which acts as a link between the original building and the new offshoot.

The attic level was opened up to form a large central recreation space with children’s rooms and a study leading off. The construction details and finishes for this project are simple, subtle and elegant. Traditional materials are used throughout: warm red sand stone, natural finish timbers and zinc. The blend is striking, modern and practical.
